The family of a man from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) who has been missing in Greece for over a month is desperately seeking answers about his whereabouts.
According to the family, 25-year-old John Smith (name changed for privacy) traveled to Greece on May 1st for a vacation. However, he has not been heard from since May 8th, when he last contacted his family.
Smith’s sister, Jane, says that the family is extremely worried and just wants to know what has happened to her brother. “We are all very close and it’s not like him to just disappear without a trace,” she said in an interview with CTV News.
The family has been in contact with the Canadian Embassy in Greece and local authorities, but so far, there have been no leads on Smith’s whereabouts. They have also reached out to the public for any information that could help locate him.
Smith’s family describes him as a responsible and reliable person, making his disappearance even more concerning. “He always keeps in touch with us, especially when he’s traveling,” said Jane. “We just want to know what’s going on.”
The family has also set up a Facebook page to raise awareness and gather any information that could lead to finding Smith. They are urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring him home safely.
Meanwhile, the Canadian government has confirmed that they are aware of the situation and are providing consular assistance to the family. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the Canadian citizen who has been reported missing in Greece,” said a spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada.
As the search for Smith continues, his family remains hopeful and is pleading for anyone with information to come forward. “We just want to know that he’s okay,” said Jane. “We won’t stop until we find him.”
