Residents of Vaudreuil, a town located in the western suburbs of Montreal, are facing persistent flooding and are calling on the city to take action.

According to reports, the town has been experiencing flooding for several years, with some residents claiming that it has become a yearly occurrence. The situation has become so severe that some residents have had to evacuate their homes and seek temporary shelter.

One resident, Marie-Claude Lavoie, told CTV News that she has been dealing with flooding in her basement for the past four years. She expressed her frustration, stating that she has spent thousands of dollars on repairs and is tired of dealing with the same issue every year.

Other residents have also voiced their concerns, stating that the city has not done enough to address the issue. They are calling on the city to take responsibility and implement measures to prevent future flooding.

In response to these concerns, Vaudreuil Mayor Guy Pilon stated that the city has been working on solutions, such as installing backflow valves and improving drainage systems. However, he also acknowledged that these measures may not be enough to completely solve the issue.

The mayor also pointed out that the town is located in a flood-prone area and that climate change has made the situation more challenging. He stated that the city is open to working with residents to find long-term solutions.

In the meantime, the city has set up a hotline for residents to report any flooding incidents and has also provided sandbags for those in need.

The persistent flooding in Vaudreuil is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. The residents are calling on the city to take immediate action and find effective solutions to prevent future flooding. It is crucial for the city to work closely with residents and take into consideration the impact of climate change in finding a long-term solution.
