Second London Drugs coming to Winnipeg, set to open in Polo Park

Winnipeg is set to welcome a second London Drugs location, with plans to open in the popular shopping destination of Polo Park.

The announcement was made by London Drugs President and CEO, Clint Mahlman, who expressed excitement about expanding their presence in the city. “We are thrilled to bring our unique shopping experience to the Polo Park area and provide even more convenience for our customers in Winnipeg,” said Mahlman.

The new location will be situated in the former Sears space, which has been vacant since the department store’s closure in 2018. The 45,000 square foot London Drugs store will offer a wide range of products, including electronics, beauty, health, and household essentials.

According to Mahlman, the decision to open a second location in Winnipeg was driven by the city’s strong economy and growing population. “Winnipeg has been a great market for us, and we see a lot of potential for growth in this city,” he stated.

The new London Drugs store is expected to create approximately 100 jobs, providing employment opportunities for the local community. The company is known for its commitment to hiring locally and supporting the communities in which they operate.

Construction on the new store is set to begin in the fall of 2021, with an estimated opening date of fall 2022. The project is expected to bring economic benefits to the city, including job creation and increased foot traffic to the Polo Park area.

London Drugs has been a staple in the Canadian retail industry for over 75 years, with 82 stores across Western Canada. The company prides itself on its customer service and community involvement, making it a popular choice for shoppers.

With the addition of a second location in Winnipeg, London Drugs is poised to further solidify its presence in the city and provide even more convenience and options for its customers.
