A tragic accident in Whitby, Ontario has claimed the life of a driver after a single-vehicle crash.
According to Durham Regional Police, the incident occurred on Sunday evening around 8:30 p.m. on Thickson Road, just south of Taunton Road.
The vehicle, a black sedan, was traveling southbound on Thickson Road when it lost control and struck a tree on the west side of the road.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and found the driver, who has not been identified, without vital signs. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police believe speed may have been a factor.
Thickson Road was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation, but has since reopened.
