A man is in critical condition after a shooting in northwest Toronto on Monday evening.
According to Toronto police, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Jane Street and Falstaff Avenue.
The victim, who has not been identified, was found with serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police have not released any information about potential suspects or a possible motive for the shooting.
The area has been cordoned off as officers continue to investigate the scene. They are asking anyone with information to come forward and assist with their investigation.
This is the latest in a string of shootings in Toronto, with several incidents occurring in the past week alone.
On Sunday, a man was shot and killed in the city’s east end, and on Saturday, a 17-year-old boy was injured in a shooting in the city’s west end.
Toronto Mayor John Tory has expressed his concern over the recent increase in gun violence and has called for stricter gun control measures.
The Toronto Police Service has also launched a new initiative, Project Community Space, to address the recent spike in gun violence and work with community partners to prevent future incidents.
As the investigation into Monday’s shooting continues, police are urging anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
