A second man has been charged in connection with a murder that took place in Rocky View County, and he has made his first appearance in court.
According to police, 25-year-old Michael James Godfrey was arrested on December 16 and charged with first-degree murder in the death of 30-year-old Ryan William Gatzke. Gatzke’s body was found in a rural area near Airdrie on December 7.
Godfrey appeared in court on Wednesday, where he was formally charged and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court again on January 6.
This is the second arrest made in connection with Gatzke’s murder. 27-year-old Cody Kenneth Bauer was arrested on December 11 and also charged with first-degree murder.
Police have not released any further details about the case, but have stated that they believe the two suspects and the victim knew each other.
