Toronto police identify suspect wanted in North York double homicide

Toronto Police have identified a suspect wanted in connection with a double homicide in North York.

According to authorities, 29-year-old Darnell Reid is wanted for two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 27-year-old Jalen Colley and 26-year-old Joshua Gibson.

The incident occurred on December 13, 2020, at a residence on Gosford Boulevard near Jane Street and Finch Avenue West. Police were called to the scene around 1:30 a.m. and found both victims suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Detective Sergeant Keri Fernandes said that Reid is considered armed and dangerous and urged the public not to approach him if spotted. She also stated that Reid has ties to the Greater Toronto Area and may be in the city or surrounding areas.

Fernandes also revealed that Reid has a criminal record and is known to police. She did not provide further details on his past charges.

Police have released a photo of Reid and are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward. They are also appealing to Reid himself to turn himself in.

“We are asking Mr. Reid to do the right thing and turn himself in to police,” Fernandes said. “We are also asking anyone who may be harboring him to do the right thing and contact us.”

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, but Fernandes said that it appears to be targeted and not a random act of violence.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
