Canadore College Elder Encourages Kindness, Care, and Generosity
In a world where negativity and division seem to dominate the headlines, one Canadore College elder is spreading a message of kindness, care, and generosity.
Elder Shirley Cheechoo, who has been a part of the Canadore community for over 20 years, recently shared her thoughts on the importance of these values in our daily lives.
“Kindness, care, and generosity are not just words, they are actions that can make a real difference in someone’s life,” Cheechoo said. “We must remember to treat others with respect and compassion, regardless of our differences.”
Cheechoo, who is also an award-winning filmmaker and artist, believes that these values are especially important in the current climate of social and political turmoil.
“We are all human beings, and we must learn to coexist and support each other,” she said. “It starts with small acts of kindness and caring, and it can have a ripple effect that can change the world.”
As an elder, Cheechoo has seen the impact of these values firsthand in the Canadore community. She has witnessed students and staff coming together to support each other during difficult times, and she believes that this sense of community is what makes Canadore College special.
“I am proud to be a part of this community, where kindness, care, and generosity are not just words, but a way of life,” she said.
