1st-degree murder charge laid in suspicious Vancouver Island death

A suspicious death on Vancouver Island has left the community in shock and mourning.

According to the RCMP, the body of a 35-year-old man was discovered in a residence on the 3000 block of Quadra Street in Victoria on Monday afternoon. The man’s identity has not been released at this time.

Police were initially called to the residence for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, they found the man’s body and deemed the death to be suspicious.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has taken over the investigation and is working with the BC Coroners Service to determine the cause of death.
