A collision between a train and a semi-truck has resulted in significant traffic delays near Lamont, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Highway 15 and Range Road 192 on Wednesday afternoon. The Lamont County Fire Department and RCMP were called to the scene at around 2:30 p.m.
According to witnesses, the semi-truck was attempting to cross the train tracks when it was struck by the train. The impact caused the semi-truck to overturn and spill its load of grain onto the road.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. However, the collision has caused major traffic disruptions in the area. The highway was closed in both directions for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
As of 6 p.m., the highway has been reopened to traffic, but motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes if possible.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. It is unclear at this time if any charges will be laid.
