A tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning on Highway 39, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. According to authorities, the incident took place around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 39 and Range Road 205, just east of Leduc.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was struck by a vehicle while walking along the highway. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, but unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced dead on site.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. It is unclear at this time if any charges will be laid.
The highway was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation. It has since been reopened to traffic.
