Man, 37, stabbed and killed on Montreal meto platform

A 37-year-old man was fatally stabbed on a Montreal metro platform on Monday evening, according to police.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. at the Jean-Talon metro station in the city’s Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough.

According to Montreal police spokesperson Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant, the victim was involved in a physical altercation with another man on the platform. The altercation quickly turned violent, with the suspect pulling out a knife and stabbing the victim multiple times.

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as a 37-year-old man, but his name has not been released.

The suspect, a 33-year-old man, fled the scene but was quickly apprehended by police. He is currently in custody and is expected to face charges of second-degree murder.

The metro station was temporarily closed for investigation, causing delays for commuters during rush hour. The station has since reopened and normal service has resumed.

Police are still investigating the motive behind the attack and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
