He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce, where he was recognized for his outstanding contributions.
In addition to his volunteer work, Vercouteren was a successful businessman. He owned and operated Vercouteren Construction for over 50 years, leaving a lasting mark on the local landscape. He was also a proud member of the Chatham-Kent Home Builders’ Association and the Chatham-Kent Construction Association.
Vercouteren’s impact on the community extended beyond his professional and volunteer work. He was a devoted family man, always putting his loved ones first. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Mary, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Vercouteren’s life will be held at the Chatham-Kent Rotary Club, where he will be honored for his contributions to the community. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice in Vercouteren’s memory.
