A Crossfield resident is celebrating a big win after purchasing a scratch ticket that landed them $100,000.
The lucky winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at the Crossfield Gas Plus on Railway Street. The ticket was part of the “Set for Life” game, which offers a top prize of $100,000.
According to the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC), the winner scratched off the ticket and immediately realized they had won the top prize.
“I couldn’t believe it,” the winner said in a statement released by the AGLC. “I had to check the ticket multiple times before it finally sunk in.”
The winner plans to use the money to pay off some bills and put the rest into savings.
The AGLC says that the odds of winning the top prize in the “Set for Life” game are one in 1.2 million.
This is not the first time a Crossfield resident has won big from a scratch ticket. In 2019, another resident won $1 million from a “Lucky 7s” ticket.
The AGLC reminds players to always play responsibly and to set a budget before purchasing lottery tickets.
