Children were inside vehicle when it was stolen in Sylvan Lake: RCMP

Sylvan Lake RCMP are currently investigating a disturbing incident in which a vehicle was stolen with children inside.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in the town of Sylvan Lake, located in central Alberta. The vehicle, a black 2019 Dodge Ram, was parked outside a convenience store when it was stolen.

The owner of the vehicle had left the engine running while they quickly ran into the store. However, upon returning, they discovered that their vehicle was missing, along with their two young children who were inside at the time.

Thankfully, the children were found safe and unharmed a short time later, after the vehicle was abandoned in a nearby parking lot. The suspects, who are believed to be two males, fled the scene on foot and have not yet been apprehended.

The incident has left the community in shock and has raised concerns about the safety of leaving vehicles running with children inside. RCMP are reminding the public to never leave a vehicle unattended with the engine running, especially when children are inside.
