Brantford, a city in Ontario, has recently received provincial funding to support an affordable housing project. The announcement was made by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Steve Clark, on behalf of the provincial government.
The funding, totaling $1.5 million, will go towards the construction of a new affordable housing complex in Brantford. This project is a collaboration between the City of Brantford, the County of Brant, and the Brantford Native Housing Corporation.

The new complex will consist of 24 units, with a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. It will also include accessible units for individuals with disabilities. The project aims to provide affordable housing options for low-income individuals and families in the community.
Mayor Kevin Davis expressed his gratitude for the provincial funding, stating that it will have a significant impact on the city’s efforts to address the affordable housing crisis. The Brantford Native Housing Corporation, a non-profit organization that provides affordable housing for Indigenous people, will manage the new complex. Executive Director, Donna Dubie, stated that this project aligns with their mission to provide safe and affordable housing for Indigenous individuals and families.
Construction of the new complex is expected to begin in the fall of 2021 and is estimated to be completed by the end of 2022. The City of Brantford and its partners are committed to ensuring that this project is completed on time and within budget.
