A suspect has been arrested in connection with a series of indecent acts that occurred in Heron Park, according to Ottawa police.
The incidents, which involved a man exposing himself to women and children in the park, were reported to police in late August and early September. The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s or 40s, with a medium build and short dark hair.
After an investigation by the Ottawa Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit, a 38-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday and charged with three counts of indecent act and one count of criminal harassment.
Police are urging anyone who may have been a victim of a similar incident in the Heron Park area to come forward and report it to the authorities.
“We take these types of incidents very seriously and want to ensure the safety of our community,” said Sgt. Jeff LeBlanc of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
This arrest serves as a reminder for individuals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the police. The Ottawa Police Service also encourages parents to speak to their children about personal safety and what to do if they encounter a similar situation.
