Detectives Investigating Serious Collision in Niagara-on-the-Lake – Update 2

Update 2 – March 21, 2024

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service are continuing to investigate the incident.  Detectives are looking to identify the driver of the vehicle that was travelling southbound on Four Mile Creek Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake on March 19, 2024 at approximately 11:47am.  The vehicle is a potential witness to the collision.

Update 1 – March 20, 2024

Tragically the male driver succumbed to his injuries.  The female passenger remains in critical condition.

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Original Release – March 19, 2024

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at approximately 11:50am, 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers attended the area of Four Mile Creek and Line 4 Road in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, in regard to a serious motor vehicle collision. 

Initial investigation has determined that an 80 year old male driver of a silver Subaru was travelling northbound on Four Mile Creek Road, in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, when he crossed the centre line and collided with a 65 year old female driver operating a blue Ram pickup truck travelling southbound. 

The male driver of the Subaru was transported by Air Ornge to an out of region hospital with life threatening injuries and is in critical condition. 

The passenger in the Subaru, was transported by Air Ornge to an out of region hospital and is also in critical condition. 

The driver of the Ram suffered minor physical injuries.

 

Four Mile Creek remains closed between Line 3 Road and Line 4 Road. The public is asked to find alternate routes and avoid the area.

 

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit.
