GANANOQUE – Residents of Gananoque may soon have access to recordings of town council meetings, as the town council is considering implementing a new system to record and publish their meetings.
During a recent council meeting, Mayor Ted Lojko brought up the idea of recording council meetings and making them available to the public. He stated that this would increase transparency and allow residents who are unable to attend meetings to stay informed about town affairs.
The proposed system would involve recording audio of the meetings and uploading them to the town’s website for public access. This would also allow for easy reference and review of past meetings.
Councillor Dennis O’Connor expressed his support for the idea, stating that it would be a valuable resource for residents and would help to dispel any misinformation or rumors that may arise.
The council also discussed the potential cost of implementing the recording system. While there would be an initial cost for equipment and setup, it was noted that the long-term benefits would outweigh the expense.
The town council will continue to explore the logistics and costs of implementing the recording system, with the goal of making it available to the public in the near future.
Residents of Gananoque are encouraged to stay informed and engaged in town affairs by attending council meetings or accessing the recordings once they become available.
This potential change reflects the town council’s commitment to transparency and open communication with its residents. As always, the council welcomes feedback and suggestions from the community.
In the meantime, residents can stay updated on town news and events through the town’s website and social media channels. The council looks forward to continuing to serve the community and keeping residents informed.
