‘Lights on’: Coquitlam RCMP see vehicle submerged in Fraser River, unable to reach it

Coquitlam RCMP are currently investigating a submerged vehicle found in the Fraser River on Monday afternoon.

According to authorities, the vehicle was discovered by a passerby near the Port Mann Bridge around 2:30 p.m. PT. The RCMP’s dive team was immediately called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

At this time, it is unclear how the vehicle ended up in the river or if anyone was inside at the time of the incident. The RCMP has not released any information about the make or model of the vehicle.

The dive team is currently working to retrieve the vehicle from the river and will be conducting a thorough search of the surrounding area. The RCMP has also requested the assistance of the Coast Guard to ensure the safety of the divers and to help with the recovery process.

Residents in the area are being asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues. The RCMP has not provided an estimated timeline for when the vehicle will be removed from the river.
