A pedestrian is currently in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Richmond Hill, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening at the intersection of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive. York Regional Police were called to the scene at around 7:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle. The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation. It is unclear at this time if any charges will be laid.
The intersection was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation. It has since been reopened to traffic.
