Calgary police have laid charges in the death of a woman in the Redstone neighborhood.
According to authorities, the victim, identified as 27-year-old Sarah Smith, was found deceased in her home on March 20th. An autopsy revealed that she died from multiple stab wounds.
After a thorough investigation, police have charged 30-year-old John Doe with second-degree murder in connection with Smith’s death. Doe was arrested on March 22nd and remains in custody.
Police have not released any information about the relationship between the victim and the accused, but they have confirmed that they were known to each other.
The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and is asking anyone with information to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Redstone area on the evening of March 19th or the morning of March 20th.
In a statement, Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the CPS Homicide Unit expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and urged the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on April 1st.
