Investigation underway into fatal collision on Stoney Trail

An investigation is currently underway into a tragic collision that occurred on Stoney Trail in Calgary, resulting in one fatality.

According to authorities, the collision took place on Saturday evening at around 8:30 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of Stoney Trail, near the Deerfoot Trail interchange. The incident involved two vehicles, a sedan and a pickup truck.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the driver of the sedan, a 35-year-old man, with serious injuries. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, a 42-year-old man, was also injured and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and it is unclear at this time what factors may have contributed to the incident. The identities of the drivers have not been released, pending notification of their families.

The eastbound lanes of Stoney Trail were closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. Traffic was diverted onto Deerfoot Trail during this time.
