A large crowd gathered along Highway 11 in Saskatoon to witness a devastating house fire on Saturday evening.
The fire broke out at a residence on the 300 block of Avenue W South, with flames quickly engulfing the entire structure. The Saskatoon Fire Department was alerted to the blaze at around 6:30 p.m. and arrived on the scene shortly after.
According to witnesses, the fire spread rapidly, with thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Many onlookers expressed shock and concern for the safety of those inside the burning home.
Firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring properties. Despite their efforts, the house was completely destroyed by the fire.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported, as the occupants of the home were able to escape safely. However, they have been displaced from their residence and are receiving support from the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest it may have started in the kitchen. The estimated damage to the property is currently unknown.
The incident caused significant traffic delays along Highway 11, as onlookers stopped to watch the intense flames and emergency response efforts. The road was temporarily closed to allow firefighters to work safely.
