Man's death in fight ruled homicide after autopsy

A man’s death in a fight has been officially ruled as a homicide after an autopsy was conducted.

According to Edmonton police, the incident occurred on Saturday evening in the area of 118 Avenue and 82 Street. The victim, who has been identified as 32-year-old John Smith, was involved in a physical altercation with another individual.

Smith was transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.

After conducting an autopsy, the medical examiner’s office has ruled Smith’s death as a homicide.

The Edmonton Police Service’s Homicide Section has taken over the investigation and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
