Police are on the hunt for two suspects after a brazen robbery at a jewelry store in Toronto’s Fairview Mall.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon when two individuals entered the store and proceeded to smash display cases with hammers. The suspects then grabbed an undisclosed amount of jewelry before fleeing the scene on foot.
No injuries were reported, but the store sustained significant damage during the robbery.
Police have released surveillance footage of the suspects in hopes of identifying and locating them. The first suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’10” with a medium build, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and a black mask. The second suspect is also described as a male, approximately 5’10” with a medium build, wearing a grey hoodie, black pants, and a black mask.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation. They are also reminding the public to be cautious and aware of their surroundings, especially in busy shopping areas.
This is not the first time Fairview Mall has been targeted by thieves. In 2019, a similar incident occurred at a different jewelry store in the mall, where suspects also used hammers to smash display cases and steal jewelry.
The mall’s management has released a statement expressing their concern and stating that they are working closely with police to ensure the safety of their customers and tenants.
