A female pedestrian was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Scarborough on Monday evening.
According to Toronto police, the incident occurred at the intersection of Lawrence Avenue East and Markham Road around 7:30 p.m.
The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. She suffered serious injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. It is unclear at this time if any charges will be laid.
The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the incident. It has since been reopened to traffic.
This is not the first time a pedestrian has been hit by a vehicle in Scarborough. In January, a 65-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a car while crossing the street at the same intersection.
The incident serves as a reminder for both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to prevent accidents like this from happening.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
