A tragic boat crash on Bob’s Lake over the Victoria Day weekend has left one person dead and two others injured.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a boat carrying three people collided with a rock face on the lake. The boat was reportedly travelling at a high speed when it hit the rocks, causing significant damage.
The OPP, along with the Leeds and the Thousand Islands Fire Department, responded to the scene and found one person unresponsive. Despite life-saving efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other occupants of the boat were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The two injured individuals have also not been identified.
The OPP is currently investigating the cause of the crash and is asking anyone with information to come forward. They are also reminding boaters to always wear a life jacket and to operate their vessels safely and responsibly.
