A disturbing incident occurred in West Nipissing on Tuesday evening, as a teenager allegedly assaulted a family member and attempted to harm their family pet.
According to the West Nipissing Police Service, the incident took place at a residence on Main Street in Sturgeon Falls. The 16-year-old suspect, whose identity cannot be disclosed due to their age, reportedly became aggressive towards a family member and physically assaulted them.
The situation escalated when the teenager also attempted to harm the family’s pet, causing concern and fear for the safety of both the family member and the animal.
The police were called to the scene and the suspect was arrested and charged with assault and cruelty to animals. They were released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
The family member who was assaulted did not sustain any serious injuries and the family pet was unharmed.
