Detectives Appeal for Witnesses After Robbery with Firearm in Thorold

On May 30th, 2023, at 9:00pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) responded to a robbery that just occurred on Summers Drive near Confederation Avenue, in the City of Thorold.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 20-year-old male from the City of St. Catharines who was suffering from facial injuries.  Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics responded to the scene and assessed the victim prior to transporting him to hospital for treatment.  The victim has since been released and continues to recover from his injuries at home.

Investigation has determined the victim was operating an e-bike on Summers Drive at 8:49pm when he approached a grey Hyundai 4-door sedan parked in an angled position across the middle of the street.  Two suspects exited the Hyundai and directed the victim to stop.  One of the suspects was holding a black handgun and demanded the victim surrender his wallet.  After the wallet was surrendered, the two suspects physically assaulted the victim for upwards of 30 seconds before fleeing the scene in the Hyundai.

Detectives assigned to the 1 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation and are appealing to members of the public for assistance identifying the suspects and the vehicle involved.

–          Grey in color
