Manitoba RCMP arrest suspect who drove stolen car into ditch

Manitoba RCMP have successfully apprehended a suspect who drove a stolen car into a ditch.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon when officers received a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of Highway 1 and Highway 16. The vehicle, a black sedan, was reported stolen from a nearby town earlier that day.

Upon receiving the report, RCMP officers immediately began searching for the stolen vehicle. They were able to locate the car on Highway 1, but the driver refused to stop and instead led officers on a brief pursuit.

The pursuit came to an end when the suspect lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch. The driver, a 32-year-old male, was taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was also in possession of stolen property, including items from the stolen vehicle and other reported thefts in the area.

The suspect has been charged with possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and flight from police. He is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

RCMP are reminding the public to always report any suspicious activity or stolen vehicles to the authorities. They also urge vehicle owners to take precautions to prevent theft, such as locking doors and removing valuables from plain sight.

This successful arrest is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our RCMP officers in keeping our communities safe. We commend their swift response and quick action in apprehending the suspect.
