RCMP officers draw rifles as incident unfolds in Kelowna's Black Mountain neighbourhood

Kelowna, BC – A tense situation unfolded in the Black Mountain neighbourhood of Kelowna on Tuesday afternoon, as RCMP officers were seen drawing their rifles in response to an incident.

According to witnesses, the incident began around 2:30 pm when a man was seen acting erratically and causing a disturbance in the area. The man, who has not been identified, was reportedly armed with a weapon and making threats.

RCMP officers quickly responded to the scene, setting up a perimeter around the area and urging residents to stay indoors. As the situation escalated, officers were seen drawing their rifles and taking cover behind their vehicles.

The RCMP’s Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) was also called in to assist with the situation. The ERT is a highly trained and specialized unit that is deployed in high-risk situations.

After several tense minutes, the situation was brought under control and the man was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.

Residents in the area were relieved to see the situation resolved peacefully and praised the quick response of the RCMP. “I’m just glad it ended peacefully and that everyone is safe,” said one resident.
