A federal offender who had been unlawfully at large has been arrested in Tillsonburg, according to authorities.
The offender, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken into custody by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Tuesday afternoon.
The arrest was made after the OPP received information from the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad, a specialized unit within the OPP that focuses on locating and apprehending federal offenders who have breached their parole.
The offender had been unlawfully at large since September 2020, when they failed to return to their designated residence while on parole.
The OPP worked in collaboration with the ROPE Squad and the Correctional Service of Canada to locate and arrest the offender.
The individual is now facing charges of being unlawfully at large and will be held in custody pending a court appearance.
The OPP is reminding the public to report any suspicious activity or information related to federal offenders to the ROPE Squad at 1-866-870-7673 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
