A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing man who was last seen in the Burrows neighbourhood, according to the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS).
The man, identified as 67-year-old John Smith, was reported missing on Tuesday evening. He was last seen in the area of Burrows Avenue and Main Street.
Smith is described as 5’8″ tall, with a medium build and short grey hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and black shoes.
The WPS is concerned for Smith’s well-being as he suffers from a medical condition that requires medication. They are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them immediately.
In a statement, Constable Jane Doe of the WPS said, “We are asking the public to keep an eye out for Mr. Smith and to contact us if they have any information that could help us locate him. We are concerned for his safety and want to ensure he receives the necessary medical attention.”
The Silver Alert program was launched in Winnipeg in 2019 to help locate missing seniors with cognitive impairments. It is a partnership between the WPS, Manitoba Association of Seniors Centres, and the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Anyone with information on Smith’s whereabouts is asked to contact the WPS Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
