Kettle Valley residents are looking for traffic calming measures in their neighbourhood

Residents of Kettle Valley in Kelowna are calling for traffic calming measures to be implemented in their neighborhood. The issue has been brought to the attention of local authorities as concerns over speeding and safety continue to rise.

According to residents, the main concern is the high volume of traffic on Kettle Valley Road, which is the main thoroughfare in the area. Many drivers use this road as a shortcut to avoid the busy main roads, resulting in excessive speeding and reckless driving.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, “It’s become a dangerous situation for our children and pets. We’ve seen numerous close calls and near accidents due to speeding cars.”

In response to these concerns, the Kettle Valley Community Association has been working closely with the City of Kelowna to find a solution. They have proposed several traffic calming measures, including speed bumps, traffic circles, and increased police presence.

City Councillor, Ryan Donn, has acknowledged the issue and stated that the city is taking the matter seriously. “We understand the concerns of the residents and are actively working towards finding a solution that will ensure the safety of all community members,” he said.

The city has also conducted a traffic study in the area to gather data and assess the situation. The results of the study are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, residents are urged to report any incidents of speeding or reckless driving to the local authorities. The Kettle Valley Community Association is also encouraging residents to attend their upcoming meeting to discuss the issue and potential solutions.

It is clear that the safety of Kettle Valley residents is a top priority for both the community and the city. With the collaboration and efforts of all parties involved, it is hoped that effective traffic calming measures will be implemented to address the concerns and ensure the well-being of the neighborhood.
