Kelowna, BC – Fire crews were called to respond to a structure fire in Kelowna on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at a building located on the 200 block of Leon Avenue. According to reports, the fire started on the second floor of the building and quickly spread to the third floor.
Upon arrival, firefighters immediately began working to contain the blaze and evacuate any individuals who may have been inside the building. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke billowing from the building and flames shooting out of the windows. The area was quickly cordoned off by emergency personnel to ensure the safety of the public.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported at this time. However, the building has sustained significant damage and is currently uninhabitable.
Residents in the surrounding area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to the heavy smoke in the area. The fire department also warned of potential road closures and advised drivers to avoid the area if possible.
