CFL fan looking to break Guinness World Record

A dedicated CFL fan in Winnipeg is on a mission to break a Guinness World Record and make his mark in the football world.

Chris Matthew, a lifelong fan of the Canadian Football League, has set his sights on breaking the record for the longest consecutive attendance at CFL games. The current record stands at an impressive 1,187 games, held by Saskatchewan Roughriders fan Chris Henderson.

Matthew, who has been attending CFL games since he was a child, has already attended 1,100 consecutive games and is determined to surpass Henderson’s record. He has been attending games for over 30 years and has only missed a handful of games due to unforeseen circumstances.

In an interview with CTV News, Matthew expressed his love for the CFL and his determination to break the record. “I’ve been a fan of the CFL since I was a kid and it’s been a huge part of my life. Breaking this record would be a dream come true,” he said.

Matthew’s dedication to the CFL has not gone unnoticed. The league’s commissioner, Randy Ambrosie, has praised his commitment and passion for the game. “Chris is a true fan and his love for the CFL is inspiring. We are rooting for him to break the record and make history,” Ambrosie said.

Matthew’s record-breaking attempt has also caught the attention of the Guinness World Records team. A spokesperson for the organization stated that they are aware of Matthew’s attempt and are closely monitoring his progress.

In order to break the record, Matthew will have to attend every CFL game for the next two seasons. This includes regular season games, playoffs, and the Grey Cup. With the CFL season set to kick off in June, Matthew is already making plans to attend every game.

As he continues his journey towards breaking the record, Matthew hopes to inspire other CFL fans to show their support for the league. “I want to show that the CFL is more than just a game, it’s a community and a family. I hope my record-breaking attempt will encourage others to show their love for the league,” he said.

With his unwavering dedication and love for the CFL, Chris Matthew is well on his way to making history and cementing his place in the Guinness World Records.
