Police charge suspect accused of assaulting man at TTC subway station, stealing from west-end store

A suspect has been charged by police for allegedly assaulting a man at a TTC subway station and stealing from a store in Toronto’s west end.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on February 25 at around 10:30 p.m. at the Dufferin subway station. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old John Smith, allegedly approached a man and began assaulting him. The victim sustained minor injuries and was able to escape and call for help.

Police were able to track down Smith and arrested him on March 1. He has been charged with assault and theft under $5,000.

In addition to the subway station incident, Smith is also accused of stealing from a store in the west end of the city on February 28. Police say he entered the store and took several items without paying for them.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on April 15.

Authorities are reminding the public to always be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the police. They also urge anyone who may have information about this incident to come forward and contact the Toronto Police Service.
