Seven individuals have been arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) after a substantial amount of drugs and firearms were seized on Vancouver Island.
According to the RCMP, the arrests were made as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the area. The operation, which involved multiple units and agencies, took place on March 16 and 17.
During the operation, officers seized a significant amount of drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. They also recovered several firearms, including a loaded handgun and a sawed-off shotgun.
The seven individuals, whose identities have not been released, are facing multiple charges related to drug trafficking and firearms possession. They are currently in police custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Sergeant Chris Manseau, spokesperson for the RCMP on Vancouver Island, emphasized the importance of this operation in disrupting the illegal drug trade in the area. He stated, “The seizure of these drugs and firearms will have a significant impact on the safety of our communities.”
