On Monday, May 20, 2024 at approximately 9:00pm, 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) were dispatched to Preakness Park, located at 7857 Preakness street in the City of Niagara Falls in regards to a suspicious person call for service.
Initial information indicated that there was a male at the park taking pictures and videos of children.
Officers attended the park and observed a male matching the description provided. While approaching the male, police observed him to be on the phone with another person. Officers were able to determine through investigation that the male was on the phone and had not taken any photos or videos.
The Niagara Regional Police Service are aware of comments circulating online in relation to this incident. Officers have investigated and believe these claims to be false. However the Niagara Regional Police Service encourages the public to call 911 if they observe anything/anyone suspicious in the Niagara Region.
