An Air Canada flight bound for Vancouver was forced to return to Toronto Pearson Airport on Sunday morning due to an engine issue.
According to a statement from Air Canada, flight AC1189 departed from Toronto at 8:10 a.m. and was en route to Vancouver when the pilots received an indication of a potential issue with one of the engines.
As a precautionary measure, the pilots decided to turn the plane around and return to Toronto, where it landed safely at 9:20 a.m.
The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members were unharmed and were able to disembark the aircraft without incident.
Air Canada also stated that they are currently investigating the cause of the engine issue and are working to accommodate the affected passengers on alternate flights.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified of the incident and will be conducting their own investigation.
This is not the first time an Air Canada flight has experienced engine trouble. In February, a flight from Montreal to Vancouver was forced to make an emergency landing in Seattle after one of its engines failed.
