The body of a 17-year-old boy from Saskatchewan has been recovered after a tragic canoe accident on Helene Lake.
According to authorities, the teen was canoeing with a group of friends on the lake when their canoe overturned on Sunday afternoon. The group attempted to swim to shore, but the teen did not resurface.
A search and rescue operation was immediately launched, with assistance from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and local volunteers. The search continued into the evening and resumed on Monday morning.
Sadly, the teen’s body was found by divers on Monday afternoon, approximately 30 meters from where the canoe had overturned.
