A woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger in a washroom at a recreation centre in Surrey, according to the RCMP.
The incident occurred on Monday, March 15th, at approximately 9:30 pm at the Newton Recreation Centre on 13730 72 Avenue.
The victim reported that she was using the washroom when an unknown man entered and sexually assaulted her. She was able to fight him off and escape, and immediately contacted the police.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 30s, approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build and short dark hair. He was wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, and black shoes at the time of the assault.
The Surrey RCMP’s Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation and is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. They are also reminding the public to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings, especially when using public facilities.
