A 16-year-old motorcyclist is in serious condition after a crash in Whitby on Sunday evening.
According to Durham Regional Police, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Thickson Road and Winchester Road East.
The motorcyclist was travelling southbound on Thickson Road when they collided with a vehicle turning left onto Winchester Road East.
The impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from their bike and suffer serious injuries.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and the motorcyclist was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Police have not released any information about the identity of the motorcyclist or the driver of the vehicle.
The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the scene, but has since reopened.
