A shooting in North York has left one person with serious injuries, according to police.
The incident occurred on Monday evening at around 8:30 p.m. in the area of Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West.
Police say that upon arrival, they found a male victim with gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect is described as a male in his 20s, wearing a black hoodie and black pants. He was last seen fleeing the scene on foot.
The investigation is ongoing and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
This is the second shooting in the North York area in the past week. Last Wednesday, a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in the area of Jane Street and Finch Avenue West.
Police have not confirmed if the two incidents are related.
Residents in the area are expressing concern and fear over the recent increase in gun violence.
“I’m scared for my family and my children,” said one resident. “It’s not safe anymore.”
Police are reminding the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
