2nd suspect arrested in baseball bat assault in Hamilton that left man and son injured

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a violent baseball bat assault that left a man and his son injured in Hamilton.

According to police, the incident occurred on December 27, 2020, when a 49-year-old man and his 15-year-old son were walking in the area of Main Street East and Tisdale Street South. They were approached by two individuals who were allegedly armed with baseball bats.

The suspects then proceeded to assault the father and son, causing serious injuries. The victims were taken to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

After an investigation, Hamilton police arrested a 19-year-old man on January 6, 2021, and charged him with two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

On January 12, 2021, a second suspect, a 17-year-old male, was arrested and charged with the same offences.

Both suspects cannot be named due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police are still searching for a third suspect who is believed to have been involved in the assault.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Hamilton police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
