Enbridge, one of Canada’s largest energy companies, is currently in talks about expanding its Mainline pipeline as the country’s oil output continues to grow.
The Mainline pipeline, which runs from Alberta to the U.S. Midwest, is a crucial part of Canada’s energy infrastructure, transporting approximately 70% of the country’s crude oil exports. However, with the recent increase in oil production, the pipeline is operating at full capacity and is unable to meet the growing demand.

The proposed expansion has received support from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, who believe it will help alleviate the current transportation constraints and allow for more Canadian oil to reach global markets.
However, not everyone is in favor of the Mainline pipeline expansion. Environmental groups have raised concerns about the potential impact on the environment and Indigenous communities. They argue that instead of expanding pipelines, Canada should be investing in renewable energy sources.
