Winnipeg man charged after drugs, shotgun seized

A Winnipeg man is facing charges after police seized drugs and a shotgun from a residence in the city.

According to authorities, the investigation began on January 6 when officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue. During the search, police found a loaded shotgun, ammunition, and a quantity of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $1,500.

The 33-year-old man who resides at the home was arrested and charged with multiple offences, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say the seizure of the shotgun is particularly concerning as it was loaded and easily accessible in the home. They also note that the presence of drugs in the residence poses a risk to the community.

This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat illegal drug activity and the importance of reporting any suspicious or criminal behaviour.

The accused has been detained in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 7. The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
