Ukrainian woman hoping to make Calgary volleyball players great on and off the court

A Ukrainian woman is bringing her passion for volleyball to Calgary, with the goal of not only improving players’ skills on the court but also shaping them into well-rounded individuals off the court.

Oksana Krykun, a former professional volleyball player in Ukraine, has recently moved to Calgary and is determined to make a positive impact on the local volleyball community. With over 20 years of experience in the sport, Krykun has a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share with aspiring players.

Krykun’s journey to Calgary began when she met her Canadian husband while playing volleyball in Europe. After getting married and starting a family, she decided to move to Canada and continue her passion for the sport in a new country.

Upon arriving in Calgary, Krykun noticed a lack of structured and professional training for volleyball players. This inspired her to start her own volleyball academy, called “Volleyball Academy by Oksana Krykun,” where she could share her skills and knowledge with players of all ages and levels.

But Krykun’s vision for her academy goes beyond just improving players’ skills on the court. She believes that sports can be a powerful tool for personal growth and development, and she aims to instill important values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance in her students.

In addition to technical training, Krykun also focuses on mental and emotional aspects of the game, teaching her players how to handle pressure, overcome challenges, and maintain a positive attitude both on and off the court.

Krykun’s dedication and passion for the sport have not gone unnoticed. She has already received positive feedback from her students and their parents, who have seen significant improvements in their skills and attitudes towards the game.

With her professional background and strong values, Krykun is determined to make a lasting impact on the Calgary volleyball community. She hopes to see her students not only excel in the sport but also become well-rounded individuals who can contribute positively to society.

As Krykun continues to grow her academy and inspire young athletes, she is a shining example of how sports can bring people together and create a positive impact in the community.
