A woman has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred on Furby Street in Winnipeg, according to police.
The incident took place on January 6, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a 35-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Christopher Dumas, a resident of Winnipeg.
After an investigation, police arrested and charged 29-year-old Samantha Marie Stevenson with second-degree murder. She was taken into custody without incident.
Stevenson and Dumas were known to each other, according to police. The motive for the stabbing is still under investigation.
This is not the first time Stevenson has been in trouble with the law. In 2019, she was charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats. She was released on bail and was scheduled to appear in court in February 2021.
